We are required to have 60 hours of professional development each year, in order to maintain credentials and renew teacher’s license. These hours are acquired through the district and through the local co-op.
I began my teaching experience in the Camden-Fairview District in 2015. This will be my third year teaching in the First Grade. First grade students are taught Math, Reading, Writing, Science, and Social Studies in the classroom.
I originally started teaching in 2008, after I graduated from SAU in Magnolia. I began teaching in Strong, AR. I taught there for five years. While in Strong, I spent my first three years teaching kindergarten. The next year I taught 4th grade. My last year in Strong I taught third grade.
I have two daughters (Tasha and Darian) who have both graduated from High School. Tasha has a cosmetology degree and used to cut and style hair. She has a daughter named Emma. Darian is currently attending UALR but plans to transfer to SAU and change her major from Nursing to Education. She is currently expecting her first child (a girl named Emery). My boyfriend (Luke) and I have been together for 5 years now and we have 4 cats, a dog, two goldfish, and a 6ft ball python.
When I am not teaching I like to spend time going places and doing different things with family.
