Message from Your Counselors - #AttendanceMatters

It's almost here - the last nine weeks of the year! It is a fact that students who attend school regularly learn more and are more successful in school than students who do not. Families who make regular school attendance a priority are also helping their children learn to accept responsibility, which is an important lesson for a successful life. Attendance patterns are formed early in life. Children who develop good attendance habits in the early grades will be more likely to continue them throughout their school career, as well as into their adult lives. Students who miss school miss carefully planned sequences of instruction, miss out on active learning experiences, and miss out on chances to participate with their classmates. They also miss out on opportunities to ask questions about concepts they do not fully understand. As a result, they are more likely to fall behind.

Throughout the year, we've been reminding families and students that #AttendanceMatters and encouraging students to be at #SchoolEveryDay possible! We want to finish the year strong and reward our students for their commitment to being at school and on time every day.

Beginning Monday, March 4th, all students with no absences (excused or unexcused) and no tardies (a tardy is defined in the handbook as arriving after 8:10AM or leaving 10 minutes before dismissal time in the afternoon) will receive weekly and monthly recognition. At the end of the school year, all students who have no more than 2 tardies or absences (excused or unexcused) will receive an extra special movie award with popcorn and drinks.

We encourage all students to be at school ALL day EVERY day! Thanks for your support!
