CFSD Improves District Letter Grade to a C, Celebrates Growth Across Every Campus

Camden Fairview School District’s letter grade improved from a D to a C, reflecting meaningful progress in student achievement, academic growth, and college and career readiness.
Letter grades provide one measure of school performance, but they do not tell the complete story of a school or its students. Across CFSD, assessment results, instructional improvements, student accomplishments, and school culture all point to growing momentum.
Fairview Elementary School: Building Strong Foundations
FES increased its total points by 142.56 points, representing significant progress for students and teachers.
The school is strengthening daily WIN (“What I Need”) time so students receive targeted intervention or enrichment without missing core instruction. This approach allows teachers to respond directly to individual learning needs while protecting high-quality literacy and math instruction.
Early literacy results from this year show that students are building a strong foundation:
Only 16% of kindergarten students scored at Level 1 in English language arts, while 40% of kindergarten students reached Levels 3 or 4.
66.2% third-grade students were classified as Ready on the beginning-of-year ATLAS Literacy Screener.
Most third-grade students demonstrated readiness in at least one of the screener’s three literacy domains.
These results highlight the progress students are making as they begin their school journey. FES teachers are providing strong instruction, identifying individual needs, and offering targeted support so every child has opportunities to grow and succeed.
Ivory Intermediate School: Sustaining Success
Ivory Intermediate maintained its C letter grade, continuing the momentum created last year when the school improved by two letter grades.
The school’s progress reflects focused leadership, strong instruction, high expectations, and the hard work of students and staff. Teachers continue to challenge students at greater levels, and the school remains focused on building the academic momentum needed to reach the next level.
Among a cohort of students tracked over one year at Ivory:
The percentage performing at or above grade level increased from 34% to 70%, a 36-percentage-point gain.
The percentage performing below grade level decreased from 37% to 7%, a 30-percentage-point reduction.
Ivory has also been named a Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase School for two consecutive years, recognizing its intentional commitment to relationships, student engagement, and a positive school culture. At Ivory, strong relationships and academic expectations work together to help students succeed.
Camden Fairview Middle School: Significant Academic Growth
CFMS made significant gains in both student achievement and academic growth, finishing just 0.87 points away from earning a C and increasing its total points by 38.5. This represents substantial progress in a single year and reflects the dedication of students, teachers, staff members, and school leaders.
CFMS’s Algebra I results provide one powerful example of that progress. CFMS students significantly outperformed statewide ATLAS results:
56% scored at Levels 3 or 4, compared with 37% statewide.
30% reached Level 4, compared with 18% statewide.
These results demonstrate what is possible when students are challenged, teachers provide strong instruction, and high expectations are paired with the support students need to succeed.
Camden Fairview High School: Expanding College Readiness
High school accountability includes a complex combination of student achievement, academic growth, graduation measures, and Success Ready indicators. These indicators include concurrent credit, Advanced Placement participation and achievement, and military enlistment.
CFHS increased by 42.65 points and finished just 0.71 points from improving to a D letter grade, demonstrating important progress across these measures.
Advanced Placement achievement is one area where CFHS students are excelling. Twenty students earned qualifying scores of 3 or higher. Qualifying scores were earned in:
U.S. Government and Politics
English Language and Composition
English Literature and Composition
Physics
World History
Several students earned qualifying scores in more than one AP subject.
Through the district’s “AP Pays at CFHS!” initiative, CFSD awarded $100 for every qualifying score to both the student who earned it and the teacher who prepared that student for success. The students and their AP educators were recognized during the September meeting of the Camden Fairview School Board.
These accomplishments reflect rigorous instruction, determined students, and a focused “Every Cardinal. Every Day” commitment to college and career readiness.

Improving the district’s letter grade to a C is an important milestone, but it is not the finish line. We are proud of the progress taking place across every campus, and we will continue working to ensure every Cardinal has the instruction, support, and opportunities needed to succeed.
